Job Description:
You will be a hands-on Engineer responsible for building and configuring the Red Hat-hosted HIP layer -Apache Camel microservices on Spring Boot, and API exposure/management through 3Scale. Implements the core integration logic that connects source systems into the messaging/event backbone and exposes services externally. Responsible for responsible for building, configuring, and operating the Kafka messaging layer that underpins the HIP-to-Azure event backbone.
Responsibilites:
Build and configure Kafka topics, partitions, and consumer groups per the design/architecture standard
Implement Kafka producer/consumer logic within Camel routes and Spring Boot services
Implement schema registry integration, schema versioning, and compatibility rules (backward/forward)
Build Camel routes/microservices on Spring Boot implementing the integration flows defined in the LLDs
Configure and expose APIs through 3Scale — API definitions, security policies (API keys/OAuth), rate limiting, and versioning
Containerize and deploy services to OpenShift, including configuration of health checks, scaling, and resilience (circuit breakers, timeouts)
Experience Required
• 4+ years hands-on experience with Apache Kafka in production environments
• Strong Java/Spring Boot development skills, with direct experience integrating Kafka clients into Camel routes
• Experience with schema registry (Confluent or Red Hat AMQ Streams equivalent) and Avro/JSON Schema
• Experience with Kafka operational tooling — monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana), consumer lag tracking, partition rebalancing
• 4+ years hands-on experience with Apache Camel (Java DSL preferred) and Spring Boot microservices
• Experience deploying and operating services on Red Hat OpenShift (or Kubernetes equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with 3Scale API Management — API definition, policy configuration, security, developer portal basics
