Summary
The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data solutions with a focus on Oracle technologies. This role leads the development of data pipelines, ETL processes, and database solutions, while providing technical leadership in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and data architecture.
** This role is a contract to Dec 2026 with the possibility of extension. A current Government of Canada Reliability clearance or higher is required.
Work can be done remotely in Canada in the Eastern time zone.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver scalable Oracle-based data solutions, including XMLType and schema-based structures.
Develop and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines for data integration, migration, and deployment.
Create and support Oracle PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements, design relational schemas, and optimize data flows.
Analyze and optimize Oracle SQL performance through query tuning, execution plan analysis, and indexing strategies.
Establish and enforce data governance, security, data quality, and validation standards.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance on complex data engineering challenges.
Evaluate new Oracle features, ETL technologies, and data engineering best practices to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
Active Reliability Security Clearance or higher.
10+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, and data integration.
Extensive expertise in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, ETL development, and ETL pipelines, with expert level proficiency.
Experience with Oracle XMLType, schema-based database structures, and database performance optimization.
Strong experience developing Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and triggers.
Experience with SQL tuning, execution plan analysis, and database optimization.
Strong understanding of data governance, security, data integrity, and data validation practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
