PLATO is seeking a Technical Recruiter to join our growing Talent team in Ottawa. This role is ideal for someone who is highly responsive, curious, and comfortable working with evolving requirements. You'll work closely with hiring managers and senior recruiters to support hiring in a fast-moving environment where priorities and role definitions can change quickly, requiring strong follow-through and clear communication.
This position is Ottawa-based and requires working onsite three (3) days per week. Fully remote work is not possible.
Responsibilities
Partner closely with hiring managers to understand and clarify evolving role requirements
Respond to new or shifting hiring requirements with short turnaround times (5-7 business days)
Proactively source and engage candidates using LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, networking, and creative outreach
Build and maintain talent pipelines across roles, skill sets, and locations
Review resumes and conduct initial phone screens to assess candidate qualifications and motivation
Coordinate and manage candidates throughout the interview process, ensuring clear, timely, and professional communication at every stage
Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the applicant tracking system (ATS), including all screening and interview notes
Collect required documentation for contracts, onboarding, and security processes
Track recruiting activity and support reporting on hiring metrics
Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes, operational efficiency, and candidate experience
Represent PLATO at networking events, career fairs, and other talent-related initiatives, to help promote PLATO's culture and opportunities to prospective candidates
Support Ottawa office administrative needs, including onboarding, exits, and office supplies
What you'll need
Required
Diploma or degree in Business, Human Resources, or equivalent experience
3-5 years of experience in a technical recruiting role sourcing and screening candidates, with previous agency recruiting experience required
Experience working with government staffing and grid work
Experience coordinating interviews and working directly with hiring managers
Ability to adapt quickly to evolving requirements and shifting priorities
Strong responsiveness, organization, and follow-through
Confidence to ask questions, seek clarity, and adjust approach as needed
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability and willingness to work onsite in Ottawa three days per week
Nice to Have
Experience recruiting in technology consulting, or professional services environments
Eligibility and willingness to obtain Government of Canada security clearance
